Yes, it's true. I denied it for 3 years now...stuck my head in the sand but it didn't go away! The storms and weather events on the other side of the globe REALLY DID effect the price of Vanilla beans by creating a demand-shortage situation. In many cases bean prices have gone up as much as 1000% (Yes, that's one thousand) percent! At Lockerbeans we're getting ready to bottle a whole new batch of Vanilla Extract that's been brewing for over 1 year! Bold, strong vanilla flavor is about to break out of the Lockerbeans Vanilla factory and into your home and your recipes (but only if you buy some ')! I happened to be walking through my favorite warehouse store doing some general shopping when I noticed a massive display of so-called Vanilla Extract, so I picked one up and looked at the label (see pics below). Now, you may not get along with everyone in your family, but there's no reason to alienate them further by baking them items made with a horrible vanilla-flavored extract substitution. So there it is...read it closely...extractives in water... This means that there's some sort of vanilla flavor that's been added to water, then that mixture has some sort of alcohol mixed in with it!
